Quantum mechanical observers: a phase space approach
A quantum mechanical observer might be describable as having a reference system that is a superposition of classical inertial reference frames. The present paper suggests a possible weighting function in such superpositions, determined by the product of the observer’s wavefunction and the Fourier transform of the wavefunction at each point in phase space. This suggestion is made because each of...
متن کاملModeling Quantum Mechanical Observers via Neural-Glial Networks
We investigate the theory of observers in the quantum mechanical world by using a novel model of the human brain which incorporates the glial network into the Hopfield model of the neural network. Our model is based on a microscopic construction of a quantum Hamiltonian of the synaptic junctions. Using the Eguchi-Kawai large N reduction, we show that, when the number of neurons and astrocytes i...
متن کاملRealism and Time Symmetry in Quantum Mechanics
We describe a gedanken experiment with an interferometer in the case of preand postselection in two different time symmetric ways: We apply the ABL formalism and the de Broglie–Bohm model. Interpreting these descriptions ontologically, we get two very different concepts of reality. Finally, we discuss some problems implied by these concepts.
متن کاملTime-dependent quantum systems and PT symmetry
In this work we intend to study a class of time-dependent quantum systems with nonHermitian Hamiltonians, particularly those whose Hermitian counterpart are important for the comprehension of posed problems in quantum optics and quantum chemistry, which consists of an oscillator with time-dependent mass and frequency under the action of a time-dependent imaginary potential. We obtain the propag...
متن کاملTime Symmetry and Asymmetry in Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Cosmology
All of these time asymmetries could arise from time-symmetric dynamical laws solved with time-asymmetric boundary conditions. The thermodynamic arrow of time, for example, is implied by an initial condition in which the progenitors of today’s approximately isolated systems were all far from equilibrium at an initial time. The CP arrow of time could arise as a spontaneously broken symmetry of th...
